Yarn Cone Puppets
Yarn Cone Puppets YOU'LL NEED
Yarn cones, red felt or fabric (lips), fabric (clothes), yarn (hair), foam (teeth), paper (hands), paint (eyes / nose), 2' piece of wood (support rod), 2' of ribbon, scissors, hot glue & gun
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Slip one yarn cone over another, noting where the bottom of the outer cone rests on the inner cone.
2. Cut three pieces of red felt or fabric; an upper lip, a lower lip, and a rectangle for the mouth. Glue the upper lip to the bottom of the outer cone. Glue the lower lip and mouth about 3/4 in. below the point where the two cones meet (From Step 1).
3. Decorate the outer cone with an upper row of teeth, eyes, nose, ears, hat, etc.
4. Attach the bottom row of teeth to the inner cone. Dress the lower quarter of the inner cone with fabric as clothing. Attach two fabric covered cones as arms. Glue hands to the inside of the cones.
5. Tape a two foot long stick or rod to the inside of the inner cone to prop the puppet.
6. Glue a two foot length of ribbon to the inside of the outer cone. Feed the loose end of ribbon through the top opening of the inner cone as you assemble the puppet.
Tip Attach a ring to the end of the ribbon (From Step 6) for easier use.
Make the puppet talk by tugging on the ring attached to the ribbon.
