| Yarn Cone Utensil Holder | ||
|
YOU'LL NEED 3 yarn cones, a cardboard tube approximately 4" to 5" in diameter and 3" to 4" tall, matching fabrics (about one yard), scissors, measuring tape and hot glue |
|
| INSTRUCTIONS | ||
| TIP | Due to the shape of the cones, avoid using fabric with stripes or plaid patterns. These designs will be difficult to align on the curved cone. | |
| 1. | Since all of the pieces are covered with fabric, begin by cutting the correct sizes. Exact sizes may vary depending on size of cones but you will need 3 pieces approximately 12" x 9" for the cones and one piece approximately 16" x 9" for the base tube. | |
| 2. | Center the cone on fabric and bring the ends together. Glue down one end of the fabric and make sure the fabric is tight and smooth around the cone before gluing down the other end. | |
| TIP | If your fabric has rough edges you may want to fold the edge under before gluing. | |
| 3. | At the open end of the cone, snip the fabric in a series of 1" intervals. This will allow you to fold the fabric into the cone without bunching. | |
| 4. | Fold and glue fabric into the cone, snip any remaining fabric. Repeat steps 2 through 4 for all cones. | |
| 5. | To assemble, nest the 3 cones in the base tube, noting where cones and tube meet. Use hot glue to secure cones in place. | |
| 6. | To finish, add small bunches or rosettes of fabric in spaces between cones and tube. Add additional accent materials of your choice. | |
| TIP | For a different look, use paint! | |
