Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I heard you moved. Is this true?
A: Yes! We recently moved to our new location at 2111D Lakeland Avenue in Ronkonkoma. You can download and print out directions to our new place here.

Q: I have a nonprofit organization. Do I have to be a member to shop?
A: Materials Resource Center is open to the public and everything is sold by the pound. 40% off shopper's memberships are available to individuals and groups, and free shopper's memberships are available to schools and school districts. The New Membership Form is availible here.

Q: How much does it cost a school for a free shopper's membership?
A: A six month membership is $1.00 per pupil enrolled ($500 minimum).
The Membership Form is availible here.

Q: How can my school pay for a free shopper's membership?
A: If your school's budget cannot cover the cost of membership, PTAs and PTOs often can. School programs, i.e. MSTe or Gifted and Talented, and Magnet Schools can incorporate membership in their grant proposals. Also, qualifying school districts may be able to include membership in their Title I funding requests, and special education institutions may receive funding through Federal IDEA Funding for the Education of Students with Disabilities.

Q: Can residents donate materials?
A: Materials Resource Center does not accept household contents unless the donation is appropriate for schools, arts and crafts. We generally accept donations from businesses because they supply a large quantity of uniform or similar types of materials. We do not accept fluid materials.

Q: How can I access a copy of your 990 tax returns?
A: You can view our tax returns by visiting GuidesStar's Website and searching for "Association for Resource Conservation". (You must register with their website to access these files).

Q: Are there other places like yours?
A:Yes! Check out our new Links Page to find out about other great non-profit enviromental centers!
